Mid-Rise research grant

We’re pleased to share that our research proposal ‘Mid-Rise: the connecting scale’ will be supported by the Creative Industries Fund and the EFL Stichting. With this support, we can start a practice-based research project on the role of mid-rise housing in the future city.

The project builds on conversations with international experts; city architects (Stadsbouwmeesters) of Zürich, Basel, Brussels and Antwerp as well as architects, academics and urban thinkers. By placing these perspectives alongside each other, we aim to sharpen the current debate in The Netherlands.

In the coming months, we will conduct field research, interviews and exchanges, followed by design-based research in several Dutch cities. The goal is to test how insights from Switzerland, Belgium and other European countries can translate into concrete urban conditions in the Netherlands.

The project will result in four project visions, accompanied by interactive exhibitions with filmed interviews, VR installations and large scale models. We look forward to starting this work and contributing to the broader discussion, both in- and outside the professional field.
